What does “Full-Spectrum” mean, and why is it important for my CBD oil?

What does “Full-Spectrum” mean, and why is it important for my CBD oil?

When shopping for CBD, it’s likely that you will have seen a variety of new terminology. Words like “isolate,” “full-spectrum,” and “broad-spectrum,” are all commonly used marketing terms. If you feel confused, you’re not alone.

The phrases above all refer to the number of different cannabinoids and plant materials that are found in the product. At one end of the ‘spectrum’ is CBD isolate, which is nothing but pure CBD molecule. At the other end is ‘full-spectrum’ CBD oil, which contains a variety of hemp cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes.

Still, there’s more to know and understand with regard to the true phytochemical makeup of a CBD oil full-spectrum formula. Let’s dive into the identity and advantages of using full-spectrum products, and how you can learn to incorporate them into your daily wellness routine.

There’s a lot of argument in the industry regarding the ongoing CBD full spectrum vs isolate debate. Aside from the carrier oils they’re infused in, CBD isolate products contain nothing other than cannabidiol. Some brands offer isolate in the form of pure CBD powder or CBD crystals.

But how do these products differ from a full-spectrum CBD oil?

As we’ve discussed, full spectrum CBD products contain all of the natural components of cannabis — and there are a lot of them. In fact, there are currently 115 different and unique cannabinoids discovered in cannabis so far. These compounds work together — and perhaps even rely on one another — to produce the range of beneficial effects that humans experience when they consume something like a CBD oil. This phenomenon is often referred to in the industry as the “Entourage Effect.”

For this reason, scientists and the majority of industry experts agree that full-spectrum CBD oils are more beneficial than isolate products. When you isolate CBD from the other natural compounds in cannabis, you’re limiting its ability to optimize impact and provide beneficial effects.

Some users are concerned about full-spectrum products containing THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive cannabinoid, is only found in quantities of less than 0.3% in industrial hemp. As a result, most manufacturers (including us here at Powerline Hemp) offer third-party lab reports that verify the percent concentration of THC in each product.

Contrary to peoples’ concerns, full spectrum CBD oil with THC WILL NOT produce any mind-altering effects. CBD products are entirely non-intoxicating, meaning even in high milligram amounts, they will not result in psycho-activity.

Although it may appear intimidating at first, CBD terminology is not too confusing to wrap your head around. Full-spectrum CBD oil products are pretty simple. In a nutshell, they are hemp extract products that contain a variety of plant compounds, including cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes. Many users find this preferable due to scientific evidence that CBD is more effective when in the presence of natural hemp compounds, rather than by itself.

Be sure to check out any product’s third-party lab reports, which highlight the exact percent concentrations of CBD and other cannabinoids in each product. Companies should value transparency above all else, with the core belief that customers should know EXACTLY what they’re putting into their body, every single time.
